Overview

Mount Deo Tibba Expedition Trek is to the southeast of Manali, above Jagatsukh hamlet, and is the second-highest mountain in the Pir Panjal range in the Kullu valley. According to legend, Deo Tibba is the meeting place of the gods, and the ‘Devtas’ are said to reside atop this summit.

Mount Deo Tibba is second highest peak of Pir Panjal Range. Mt. Indrasan is the highest peak of Pir Panjal Range.

Mount Deo Tibba Expedition Trek includes crossing an icy pass and arriving at a glacier with a rocky moraine at a steep slope of roughly 55 degrees that requires fixed ropes to safely traverse. The Mt Deo Tibba Expedition is designed for experienced trekkers with a prior understanding of mountaineering methods such as the usage of ice axes, crampons, and other climbing equipment.

What is the best way to get to Manali?

Manali is India’s most popular tourist destination and the center for all adventure sports such as mountaineering, trekking, paragliding, river rafting, biking trips, Jeep safaris, cycling trips, and river camping. It raises your heart rate and increases your adrenaline surge. Beautiful Himalayan town on the banks of the Beas river, 2,000 meters above sea level. Manali is the gateway to the districts of Lahaul and Spiti, as well as Leh-Ladakh.

Nearest Airport: Bhuntar Airport (IATA code KUU) is the closest airport, located 50 kilometers from Manali on NH21. Air India flies to the airport on a regular basis from New Delhi.
Helicopter taxi service: Shimla is connected to Chandigarh, Kullu, and Dharamshala by a heli-taxi service provided by Pawan Hans, a government of India charter agency.

Nearest Railway Station: There are no rail stations in close proximity to Manali. Kiratpur Sahib is 268 kilometers away, Kalka is 275 kilometers away, and Chandigarh is 310 kilometers away.

By Road: From Delhi, Manali may be reached through Ambala, Chandigarh, Bilaspur, Mandi, and Kullu. The distance between Delhi and Manali is 570 kilometers. On this route, luxury buses, notably semi-sleeper Volvos, usually run overnight. On the Delhi-Manali route, HRTC Himachal Road Transport Corporation and private operators run daily Volvo buses. To get to Manali, one can take a taxi from Delhi.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Manali

Complete rest day and the day for shopping as all participants will have to make sure that they do not leave any of their essential item required. Self visit to Hidimba Devi Temple, Vashist Kund and other sightseeing points. Overnight stay in Manali.

Briefing & Group Orientation "know your equipment" - sharp 5pm at hotel.

Dinner included at Hotel.

Day 2: Manali to Chikka Camp (10,416 ft)

Breakfast at hotel, we will be having a drive from Manali to Jagatsukh end of power project and we will trek to Chikka, which will take 3-4 hours.

Trail ascends gradually through thick pine forests along the narrow valley, The view opens up at Chikka which provides one of the best camping site with great views of Takshak Nag Mandir. Overnight stay in camps.

Day 3: Chikka to Seri (12,200 ft)

Today our trek of 4-5 hours follows the Jagatsukh river through thick forests giving way to boulders and carpets of wild flowers. As we progress you’ll notice the changing scenery from trees to meadow in Seri, which used to be a glacial lake. The camping site has streams running along with the Tainta waterfall in the backdrop. Overnight stay in camps. We must follow the mountain manners & behaviors rule.

Day 4: Seri to Tenta - Base Camp (14,500 ft)

We will begin our day's hike from Seri camping to Deo Tibba base, which will take approximately 4 hours. On the approach to Deo Tibba base camp, there are two difficult climbs, one before Tenta and the other after it, as well as three stream crossings. Deo Tibba base camp is where you'll spend the night.

Day 5: Rest / Acclimatization day to Chota Chandratal

After breakfast, today we will use the day to get acclimatized with the height by a short trek to Chota Chandrataal.

Post lunch session on crampons practice & Technical gear distribution. Deo Tibba base camp is where you'll spend the night.

Day 6: Base Camp to Advance Camp - Duhangn Col (16,800 ft)

The day for Load ferry, which will help participant to be better acclimatized. Advance Camp is set at the Duhangan Pass.

Advance Camp is marked by a saffron-colored rock, visible from your base camp. The steep slope is between 45-65 degrees. Ascension is a mixture of snow, rock, and ice with a reputation for rockfalls. Deo Tibba base camp is where you'll spend the night.

Day 7: Base Camp to Advance Camp (16,800 ft)

Today the entire climbing team will move to advance camp, which will take 5-6 hours. Early in the morning, depart from Base Camp. Stay in tent (Duhangan Col).

Day 8: Load Ferry to Summit Camp (18,400 ft)

Ascent to summit camp is full of snow and it takes 4/5 hours(one way).The first hour is a gentle incline, and the remainder is a severe ascent. Snow clothing and crampons are required. Spend some time at Summit camp for better acclimatization, recce of route and back to Advance camp for overnight stay.

Day 9: Summit Camp (18,400 ft)

Entire climbing team will move to Summit Camp which takes 4-5 hours. Leave all unnecessary things at advance camp. Final Summit briefing at camps. And today you will be given your dinner early. Stay in tent (Summit Camp) take proper rest.

Day 10: Summit Attempt Mt Deo Tibba Expedition (19,700 ft)

We will do the Summit attempt at 2 am next same night. Fixed rope is required through the gully. The first 300m/1,000ft is a steep and technical climb. Last 100m/300ft easy walk on the dome. Indrasan peak is clearly visible.

There are a few crevasses on the last ascent to the summit. The slope becomes steeper just before the peak. Summit is wide enough and can accommodate all of the members. After the summit attempt wind up the summit camp and back to Advance camp. Overnight Stay at advance camp.

Day 11: Advance Camp to Tenta BC (14,500 ft)

Steep descent all the way for 4-5 hours. Reach Base camp by afternoon. Return all the technical equipment given by the HRI
overnight stay in tent.

Day 12: Base Camp to Chikka (10,416 ft)

Today we will trek for 14km, 6-8 hours. Mix steep and gradual descent. And overnight Stay in Chikka campsite.

Day 13: Chikka to Manali (6,750 ft)

Today our expedition will be officially finished after reaching Manali. we will trek for 2-3 hours and 1 hour drive. we will reach Manali by lunch. Stay in hotel (Manali).

Day 14: Departure Day.

After breakfast, check-out rooms at 11am. Departure to your home destination.

What documents I have to carry for Mt Deo Tibba Expedition?

You must have to carry both original & copy of valid Govt. Id (any of Passport/Aadhar card/Driving License), NOC form (by participant), Medical Certificate (signed by a registered MBBS doctor with stamp), Valid Insurance, 2 passport size photos along with you and submit them to Leader at base during briefing.

All these documents also required for permits after bookings, please arrange them in advance.

I'm the solo female climber, is it safe?

Girls' safety is important to us. Our entire mountain staff & guides are extremely trustworthy. Many solo woman travelers trek with us so there's no worry about it. We would advise all to take care of your belongings.

Can I do calls during the trip?

Most of the time, yes. All major networks are operational until Manali, although there are no networks available on mountain days. Please send this to any worried family members ahead of time.

What mode of transport will be used for the journey?

Our vendors provide us with taxi's such as the Sumo, Force Tempo Traveler, Bolero, Tata Sumo, Scorpio, Xylo, Jeep and others. In the highlands, these vehicles are the best.

How big are the groups?

We at HRI believe in the concept of Small batches' that improves quality & focus and help leader to get connect all members. For private groups there's no limit of group size.

What happens if the expedition is postponed due to natural disasters?

Expedition preparations are already done in advance. We will be offering you any alternate trip or voucher having similar value for money in case of natural calamities. In case of non-completion of expedition due to weather conditions, participant's health or fitness issue etc there wont be any refund.

In partial payment system, Booking amount is Non-Refundable in any case. Please read cancellation policy carefully.

What things do I have to carry?

Please double-check your carry-on items and adventure essentials before packing your bag. Please don't bring anything superfluous, and don't forget to bring your own medicine kit.

Who will accompany us?

On the expedition, you would be accompanied by an expedition leader, guide and mountain staff. All of our expeditions/treks are led by experts with prior expedition leadership experience.

What type of food is served during expedition?

We serve nutritious vegetarian food with eggs. Jain food also available on request please ask while bookings. On higher camps, packed food will be served.
