Overview

Pin Parvati Pass Trek is a challenging & tricky crossover located at a height of 5319 meters above sea level. Trek starts from Barshaini in Parvati valley and ends in Mudh village of Spiti valley. The Pass is named after the pass link of Parvati Valley to Spiti. It takes 10 days to complete the entire trek.
Pin Parvati Pass was first crossed in August 1884 by Sir Louis Dane in search of an alternate route to the Spiti valley. This pass connects the fertile and lush Parvati valley on the Kullu side with the Pin valley on the Spiti side. It is a popular trekking route today though still rarely visited. Very few Himalayan treks give you a chance to walk on a glacier.
Pin Parvati Pass trek is strictly for experienced trekkers. It is meant only for trekkers, who have done atleast 2 high altitude treks above 14,000ft before. It requires great stamina, trekking skills and endurance to walk on strenuous terrain. It is a 110 km long expedition with unlimited adventure. The pass also gives a terrific view on the side of the multicolor hue of mountains bordered by the snowy peaks and barren Spiti valley on the other.
This magnificent trek then further leads to Mantalai Lake trek to Base Camp over to Pin Parvati Pass at 17,500ft high after 8 hours of trekking. While reaching Pin Valley, you will come across various wild flowers and endangered species especially Snow leopards and Himalayan Birds.
One of the best trans Himalayan treks. It is an exciting challenge for any trekker. The high-altitude mountain pass is located at the height of 17,475 ft gives the trekkers the experience of a lifetime.
The main highlight of this trek is the changing scenery from lush green landscapes to the starkly desolate valley of Pin Valley National Park. It provides a magnificent traverse as you will see the sharp contrast in the landscapes, culture, flora and fauna.
pin parvati pass trek duration
The trek ends here at Mudh village, you can stay in Kaza and explore the nearby areas and monasteries. Trekkers can admire the beauty of Spiti Valley and ancient Buddhist monasteries of the region. It provides a magnificent traverse as you will see the sharp contrast in the landscapes, culture, flora and fauna. The trek is not meant for the faint-hearted. This trek can be attempted by those who have done high altitude treks before. The terrain has boulders, steep sections, river crossing, rough patches, chilly winds, and moraines. Not for the first-timers, but experienced trekkers can do this as there is a sudden gain in height and many challenges on the way.

Follow Covid Guidelines

What is the difficulty level of the Pin Parvati Pass Trek?

The trek to Pin Parvati Pass is difficult, however, it varies depending on snow and weather conditions. Only meant for experienced high-altitude trekkers.

How long do we walk each day?

Average walking distance is 10 km each day and trekkers complete in 5-8 hrs. Some
days will go beyond 11km. The trekkers have to be mentally and physically prepared.

Who will lead and go along with us?

There will be trek leaders who are professionally trained in Basic and Advance Mountaineering Course and certified in the first-aid course and along with one expert guide, cook, helpers, porters and other mountain staff.

I'm solo female traveler, is it safe?

We place a premium on the safety of young women. Our entire mountain team and guides have a high level of trustworthiness. There are many solitary female trekkers who journey with us, so don't be concerned. We would advise everyone to look after their belongings.

What kind of toilet facility are you providing?

Toilet tents would be there at campsites. We use dry toilets, which means we dig a pit and keep mud & shovel so once you are done with your business you can cover it up using mud. It is the most hygienic & one of the best ways to answer nature calls in the wilderness.

It's a dry toilet and we recommend you to not use wet tissues because wet tissue doesn't decompose.

As we indicated in the things to carry section, you should bring toilet roll paper.

Is it possible to hire a porter to help me discharge/off-load my rucksack?

Yes, trekkers' rucksacks can be off-loaded for an additional fee. Please inquire throughout the booking process. We'll make the necessary arrangements for off-loading in advance.

Can take or have smoke or liquor on the trek?

Without a doubt, no. During the walk, smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited. At higher altitudes, this causes dehydration, which invites Acute Mountain Sickness.

We advise against bringing such items with you.

What type of food is served during trek?

With eggs, we give a delicious Indian vegetarian meal. Jain food is also offered on request; please inquire at the time of booking.

What happens if the trek is postponed due to natural disasters?

Trek preparations are already done previously. We will be offering you any alternate trek or voucher having similar value for money in case of natural calamities. Please read Cancellation policy.

In case of non-completion of trek due to weather or any other conditions etc. There won't be any refund.
