Overview

Mt. Deo Tibba at 6001 M is the second highest peak of the Pir Panjal range in the Kullu valley, lying to the southeast of Manali above Jagatsukh village. As per local beliefs, Deo Tibba is the assembly site of the gods and the ‘Devtas’ are believed to sit on this peak.
Mount Deo Tibba expedition involves crossing over an icy pass, towards a glacier with a rocky moraine at a steep slope of about 55 degrees which requires fixed ropes to traverse this obstacle safely. Due to its challenging terrain and expedition style trekking, Mt. Deo Tibba expedition is meant for experienced trekkers with prior knowledge of mountaineering techniques such as the use of ice axes, crampons and roping up procedures.

How to Reach Manali

Manali is the popular tourist destination in India & hub of all adventure sports like Mountaineering, Trekking, Paragliding, River Rafting, Biking Trips, Jeep Safari, Cycling Trips, River Camping. It levels up your adrenaline rush. Beautiful himalayan town situated at 2,000 meters above sea level next to the bank of Beas river. Manali serves as the gateway to Lahaul and Spiti district as well as Leh-Ladakh.
Nearest Airport: The nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport IATA code KUU situated on NH21 about 50 km from Manali. Air India has regular flights to the airport from New Delhi.
Helicopter taxi service: Pawan Hans the Government of India charter agency provides heli-taxi service connecting Shimla to Chandigarh, Kullu and Dharamshala.

 

Nearest Railway Station: There is no close rail-head available close to Manali. The nearest broad gauge rail-heads are at Kiratpur Sahib 268 km, Kalka 275 km, Chandigarh 310 km.

By Road: Manali can be reached from Delhi passes through Ambala, Chandigarh, Bilaspur, Mandi and Kullu. The road distance from Delhi to Manali is 570 km. Luxury buses including semi-sleeper Volvos usually ply overnight on this route. HRTC Himachal Road Transport Corporation & private operators runs daily Volvo buses on Delhi-Manali route. One can hire a taxi from Delhi to reach Manali.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Manali

Complete rest day and the day for shopping as all participants will have to make sure that they do not leave any of their essential item required. Self visit to Hidimba Devi Temple, Vashist Kund and other sightseeing points. Overnight stay in Manali.

Briefing & Group Orientation "know your equipment" - sharp 5pm at hotel.

Dinner included at Hotel.

Day 2: Manali to Chikka Camp (10,416 ft)

Breakfast at hotel, we will be having a drive from Manali to Jagatsukh end of power project and we will trek to Chikka, which will take 3-4 hours.

Trail ascends gradually through thick pine forests along the narrow valley, The view opens up at Chikka which provides one of the best camping site with great views of Takshak Nag Mandir. Overnight stay in camps.

Day 3: Chikka to Seri (12,200 ft)

Today our trek of 4-5 hours follows the Jagatsukh river through thick forests giving way to boulders and carpets of wild flowers. As we progress you’ll notice the changing scenery from trees to meadow in Seri, which used to be a glacial lake. The camping site has streams running along with the Tainta waterfall in the backdrop. Overnight stay in camps. We must follow the mountain manners & behaviors rule.

Day 4: Seri to Tenta - Base Camp (14,500 ft)

We will start the day’s trek for Deo Tibba base which will take around 4 hours from Seri campsite. There are two steep climbs, one before Tenta and the other after it, and three stream crossing on the way to Deo Tibba base camp. Overnight stay at Deo Tibba base camp.

Day 5: Rest / Acclimatization day to Chota Chandratal

After breakfast, today we will use the day to get acclimatized with the height by a short trek to Chota Chandrataal.

Post lunch session on cramponing practice & Technical gear distribution. Overnight stay at Deo Tibba base camp.

Day 6: Base Camp to Advance Camp - Duhangn Col (16,800 ft)

The day for Load ferry, which will help participant to be better acclimatized. Advance Camp is set at the Duhangan Pass.

Advance Camp is marked by a saffron coloured rock, visible from your base camp. Steep slope between 45-65 degrees. Ascent is a mix of snow, rock and ice, known for rockfalls. Overnight stay at Deo Tibba Base Camp.

Day 7: Base Camp to Advance Camp (16,800 ft)

Today the entire climbing team will move to advance camp, which will take 5-6 hours. Leave the Base camp early in the morning. Give proper rest to your body and keep warm. Stay in tent (Duhangan Col).

Day 8: Load Ferry to Summit Camp (18,400 ft)

Ascent to summit camp is full of snow and it takes 4/5 hours(one way). First 1 hour is gradual ascent, rest all is steep ascent. Snow clothing and crampons are required. Spend some time at Summit camp for better acclimatization, recce of route and back to Advance camp for overnight stay.

Day 9: Summit Camp (18,400 ft)

Entire climbing team will move to Summit Camp which takes 4-5 hours. Leave all unnecessary things at advance camp. Final Summit briefing at camps. And today you will be given your dinner early. Stay in tent (Summit Camp) take proper rest.

Day 10: Summit Attempt Mt. Deo Tibba (19,700 ft)

We will do Summit attempt 2 am next on same night. Fixed rope required through the gully. First 300m/1,000ft is steep and technical climb. Last 100m/300ft easy walk on dome. Indrasan peak is clearly visible.

Final ascent to the peak has a few crevasses. Just before the summit, the slope becomes steeper. Summit is wide enough and can accommodate all of the members. After summit attempt windup the summit camp and back to Advance camp. Overnight Stay at advance camp.

Day 11: Advance Camp to Tenta BC (14,500 ft)

Steep descent all the way for 4-5 hours. Reach Base camp by afternoon. Return all the technical equipment given by the HRI
overnight stay in tent.

Day 12: Base Camp to Chikka (10,416 ft)

Today we will trek for 14km, 6-8 hours. Mix steep and gradual descent. And overnight Stay in Chikka campsite.

Day 13: Chikka to Manali (6,750 ft)

Today our expedition will be officially finished after reaching Manali. we will trek for 2-3 hours and 1 hour drive. we will reach Manali by lunch. Stay in hotel (Manali).

Day 14: Departure Day.

After breakfast, check-out rooms at 11am. Departure to your home destination.

Cancellation Policy

We totally understand that unforeseen circumstances might need you to change plans, and so HRI cancellation policy makes it easier to do that. Please read them very carefully.  
  • Cancellations up to 30 days prior to departure date - 10% deduction (payment gateway & bank charges).
  • Between 30 days to 15 days prior to departure - 50% deduction.
  • Less than 15 days of departure - No Refund.
  • In partial payment system, Booking amount is Non-Refundable in any case.
  In case of any unforeseen weather conditions, government restrictions, road blockage or any other unavoidable circumstances beyond our control, certain activities during the expedition or the event itself may be cancelled/skipped, or there could be change in the itinerary. In such cases, we will try our best to provide an alternate feasible activity or a voucher will be handed over (in case of cancellation or rescheduling of event) to you. However no cash refund will be provided for the same. In case the trip is cancelled by us for lack of minimum number of people in the batch, you will get a full refund. Also, if you have opted for a trek insurance, rentals, off-loading & other activities the amount will not be refunded. In partial payment system, booking amount is Non-Refundable in any case.   All refunds will be processed back to the same bank account or the credit card account from which the amount has been paid. The amount for refund will be processed within 10 working days. Refund amount would always be calculated basis the net amount paid* for booking of the event & the Base Price of the event (excluding all additional services transport, rent, portage, etc.). Any voucher issued would not include the service tax amount paid while making the booking.

Health & Fitness

Mt Deo Tibba expedition is technical climb so you have to be with high physical fitness. It requires high altitude trekking experience upto 5000 meters. You can gain your physical fitness with workouts & breathing sessions. This expedition goes upto 6,000M there's altitude gain for that you need to have strong lungs. Also your body needs to be active in such high altitude weather.   Firstly, start by jogging 4-5 days a week. Start jogging at a slow pace and keep increasing day by day. This will make your lungs stronger than before hence cardiovascular endurance exercises are very important. Running, Cycling & strength building exercies will help to you gain a good physical fitness. Calculate your BMI  
  • Walking with 25kg loaded rucksack is a great exercise that gives great shape to your legs and your body. It helps in burning calories and cut down excess weight and strengthens your body.
  • Jogging is effective in increasing human lifespan and makes your lungs stronger. It is an aerobic activity that requires a lot of oxygen. This is a great exercise for fighting obesity and staying healthy.
  • Squats are the best form of functional exercises to improve stability. They also strengthen your legs, thighs, hips and hamstring.
  • 3-5 Sets each of Pull-ups, Push-Ups, Sprints, Mountain Climber, Burpee, Jumping Jacks, & 60 Seconds Plank.
  • Another great cardio vascular exercise is pushing your body upstairs after stairs. This is regarded as the best exercise for increasing strength and power. Carry 25kg loaded rucksack helps a lot too.
  • & finally don't forget to give treat to your body with some breathing exercises, Yoga and Meditation in the end.
  • Take proper diet, stay hydrate, and sleep for the best results.
    Don't forget to carry proper clothing, drink liquid like water, tea, coffee etc to acclimatize properly.

FAQs

What documents I have to carry?
You must have to carry both original & copy of valid Govt. Id (Passport/Aadhar card/Driving License), NOC form (by participant), 2 passport size photos along with you and submit them to Trip Leader at beginning of trip.
I'm the solo female climber, is it safe?
Girls safety is important to us. Our entire mountain staff, leaders, guides are extremely trust worthy. Many solo woman travelers travel with us so there's no worry about it. We would advise all to take care of your belongings.
Can I do calls during the trip?
Yup, most of the days. All major networks works til Manali but you wouldn’t find any network on mountain days. Please share this with anxious family members in advance.
Is Diamox advisable and I should bring some medicines with me?
No but in case you are having so please consult with doctor bcz there are lot's of myths about Diamox.

Yes personal medicines are advisable during any trips & trekking expedition.

What type of transportation will be used on the trip?
We use taxis like Sumo, Force Tempo Traveler, Bolero, Tata Sumo, Scorpio etc. from our vendors. These vehicles are the best in the mountains.
How big are the groups?
We at HRI believe in the concept of Small batches' that improves quality & focus. Max 5-12 members of group strength that helps trip leader to get connect all members. For special groups there's no limit of group size.

We need at least 5 people to operate our fixed departures.
What if the trip is cancelled or change in itinerary due to natural calamities?
Trip preparations are already done previously. IMF & other permits would done in advance. We will be offering you any alternate trip or voucher having similar value for money in case of natural calamities. In case of non-completion of expedition or change in itinerary due to weather conditions etc there wont be any refund.

We reserve the rights to change any schedule in the interest of safety, comfort and general well being. Expenses arise unforeseen circumstances or Act of God or beyond our control to be borne by you.
What things do I have to carry?
Please check things to carry/expedition essentials to pack in your rucksack. Please don't pack unnecessary things & don't forget to pack personal medicines kit.
Who all will go along with us on the trip?
Expedition leader & mountain staff would go along with you on the expedition. All our expeditions/treks are led by professional trip coordinators who have a good experience in leading groups.
What type of food is served during expedition?
We serve healthy & nutritious Indian vegetarian food with eggs. Jain food also available on request please ask while bookings. High altitude ration is separated from the main ration.
