Overview

The Roopkund Trek is a renowned trekking route in the Indian Himalayas, located in the state of
Uttarakhand. This trek is famous for the mysterious Roopkund Lake, a high-altitude glacial lake
situated at an elevation of approximately 4,900 meters (16,500 feet). The lake is known for
hundreds of ancient human skeletons found at its edge, sparking curiosity and debate among
historians and scientists.

The trek itself is an adventure, taking you through lush forests, picturesque villages, and
breathtaking mountain vistas. The trail offers stunning views of the Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and
other prominent peaks of the Garhwal Himalayas. The trek is approximately 53 kilometers long
and typically takes around 8 days to complete.

How to Reach

Lohajung is the base village and trek starting point. Lohajung is 250km from Rishikesh.
Rishikesh is well connected to all major cities of the country.

Nearest Airport: Joly Grant Airport, Dehradun is the nearest airport. Which is 20km from
Rishikesh.

Nearest Railway Station: Rishikesh is the closest railway station.

Road Connectivity: Rishikesh is well connected with national capital Delhi through highway.
Delhi is 251km from Rishikesh. Book a cab to reach Rishikesh or overnight Volvo is most
convenient mode of travel to reach Rishikesh from Delhi.

Tour Plan

Day 01 Rishikesh to Lohajung

* Lohajung Altitude: 7,700 feet
* Drive 250 km, 10 hours
* Trekkers will be picked from Tapovan, Rishikesh at 5:30 am
* 5:00 p.m. is the expected arrival time at base camp, Lohajung.
* Tea with Briefing/Orientation, check list
* Buy/Rent Personal gears
* Overnight stay

Includes: Pickup, Taxi, Dinner and stay.

Day 02 Lohajung to Didna Village

* Didna Altitude: 8,000 ft.
* Trek 8 km, 4-5 hours
* Initially moderate ascent, gradual through forest
* Enough water points en-route
* Hot lunch at campsite
* Overnight stay, followed by dinner

Includes: Breakfast, Guide, lunch, Dinner and Stay.

Day 03 Didna to Ali Bugyal

* Altitude: 11,300 ft.
* Trek 10 km, 6-7 hours
* Trail takes you through oak, birch and rhododendron tress magnificently.
* Ali Bugyal meadows welcome you with grasslands and wildflower blooming
* After reaching, you can visit nearby temple, and views Garhwal Himalayas
* Dinner & overnight stay in camps

Day 04 Ali Bugyal to Patar Nachauni via Bedni Bugyal and Ghora Lotani

* Altitude: 12,800 ft
* Trek 10 km, 7-8hours
* This is easiest day of the Roopkund trek
* Gradual ascent to Bedni Bugyal, Ghora Lotani & cmping spot
* This day you will gain high altitude so stay your body hydrated.
* Wonderful surroundings motivates you to reach destination
* Dinner and overnight stay in camps.

Day 05 Patar Nachauni to Bhagubasa via Kalu Vinayak

* Bhagubasa Altitude: 14,000 ft
* Trek 10 km, 4-5 hours
* Wake up early for longest day of trekking.
* Visit Kalu vinayak temple at high altitude, uneven zig-zag path ahead
* From the temple, you can take views of Roopkund and scenic
views of Trishul & Nandagunti peaks
* Traverse rough terrain to Bhagubasa
* Overnight stay, followed by dinner

Day 06 Bhagubasa to Roopkund and back to Bedni Bugyal

* Altitude: 16,500 ft.
* Trek 10 km, 8-9 hours
* Start the trek to Roopkund, highest point of the trek with breathtaking views and the
mysterious lake of skeletons
* Witness the lake’s mysterious skeletons and visit the temple near the
Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve
* Descend through Bhagubasa, PatarNachuni, Ghora Lautani and back to Bedni Bugyal.
* Overnight stay in camps

Includes: Breakfast, Guide, packed lunch, Dinner and Stay.

Day 07 Patar Nachauni to Lohajung via Bedni and Wan

* Altitude: 7,600 ft
* Trek 12 km, 8-9 hours
* Return to the starting point, walking 18 km and taking around 9 hrs
* Take the right trail, passing through wooden huts and entering the forest region
* Pass through Gharoli Patal, reach the Neel Ganga river and continue to Wan village
* Wonderful surroundings motivates you to reach destination
* After reaching Wan, drive to Lohajung
* Dinner & Overnight Stay

Day 08 Departure Day

* Drop to Tapovan/Natraj Chowk, Rishikesh will be provided
* Drive 250km, 8 hours
* Start early in the morning
* Drop by 6 pm. Schedule further bookings by 8pm with buffer time.
* Return back home with lots of sweet memories.
